In the historic steel town of Hamilton, Ontario, Stelco’s steel manufacturing operations downscaled over several decades of economic transformation and left significant excess land and vacant industrial buildings on the company’s books.

Skylight, in partnership with Stelco and the City of Hamilton, developed a thriving film and photo business, opening the site as a location for the very first time and establishing Skylight Steelworks as a premier destination for all productions shooting in the Toronto and Hamilton area.

Through Skylight’s network and operations, Skylight Steelworks became the go-to destination for film productions scouting diverse backdrops with enormous scale. It served as a futuristic planet, a dystopian city, a present-day port, DC’s Gotham and more – all while allowing Stelco to maintain their extensive ongoing operations without interruption.
